Interior and Exterior Solar Fountain

For years now, solar power as an energy source has been becoming more accepted as an alternative to electrical power. A combination of factors, which include the growing public awareness of the scarcity of natural resources and the effects of fossil fuel production on our planet, has put solar power right into the spotlight, and led to an ever growing variety of products available which harness this power. One such product is the solar fountain, which use the abundant energy reserves of the sun to create a pleasant and soothing water feature.

The benefits of using a solar fountain, compared to using a more traditional design is mainly down to the cost. With a solar powered fountain, once you have purchased it, there are no additional costs to worry about as the energy used to keep it running is completely free. Another benefit, not immediately apparent, is the flexibility they allow the owner in terms of placement. You have no need to plug solar fountains into the mains, which means you can place them pretty much wherever you like.

The only limitations regarding placement to think about is concerning the amount of sunlight the solar water fountain will receive. Obviously the solar fountain needs plenty of sunlight so will not work as well if place under trees that give lots of shade. It is worth avoiding placement under trees if possible as the steady fall of leaves and twigs can potentially clog the fountain and impair its workings. Regardless of placement it is advised that you check on a fountain every few days just in case any natural garden detritus needs to be removed.

Interior solar fountains are also available, some designed for use near windows where they can absorb the required sunlight, and others which can be used further inside the house by means of a solar panel connected to it from outside. Whichever you go for, you will no doubt find your solar fountain a pleasant and soothing bit of ornamentation for your home, that won’t hurt Mother Nature or your wallet.
