Get Healthy with an Electric Kettle Water Filter

Good quality drinking water from the tap is something some of us are able to take for granted. Certainly in the West people expect drinking water and plenty of it as standard. Not all water is of the same standard however. In some areas, although the water is perfectly drinkable, it has a tendency to create lime scale. This is called hard water, and will be something that is obvious in the shower, drinking it cold, and becomes even for of a problem when making hot drinks. Particularly concerning the wear and tear on the electric kettle.

The shower is not such a pain, although if you were to try a shower in a soft water area or one that uses water softeners, you would definitely notice the difference. Soft water does taste better cold than hard water, but again this is not such a big deal. Most tap water, hot or cold, will have been extensively processed to remove any germs or bacteria and is unlikely to taste like mountain spring water anyway. No, the main problem with hard water is its effect on the kettle and our tea and coffee.

Basically, over time, hard water will cause and electric kettle to fur up. The harder the water in any given area, the worse the effect will be on the kettle. After a while it gets virtually impossible to clean all the lime scale and it tends to just steadily build up until the kettle is rendered useless. The other side effect is that bits of scale will start ending up in your tea and coffee. This is highly unpleasant and ruins any chance of enjoying your drink. The effect on your body from this detritus is unlikely to be good.

Britta, the water filter manufacturer, have supplied us with the solution however – their Electric Kettle Water Filter. They have basically combined a standard kettle and built in a water filter at the top. Very simple to operate – you simply put tap water in the top which passes through a filter and is then ready to boil. I have been using one myself for a year or so now and would never go back to the alternative. Not only is my kettle still like new because the scale problem has been solved, I get to enjoy a decent cuppa now and then.
